The moist air mass storm has passed now. We're hoping for better weather now. That's the story as of this moment.

Sunday (9/22/2013) saw another wave of severe storms. High winds and power outages came along with the package. Some local flooding occurred in the lower elevations too. It passed quickly, however. Monday the sun and perfect clear blue skies came back. Looks like the same gig for today (Tue). We're seeing 45F temps in the early AM. Also the first snow has dusted the Boulder Mountains high elevation areas (10k feet and above). This usually melts very quickly. Fall colors are well underway now.

The longest puddle in Wayne County (in front of the Capitol Reef Inn) has finally been drained. It seems a sense of normality has been restored to Torrey.

Tuna passed through the area (Torrey) en-route to their destinations. Scheduling didn't provide enough time for riding but we had an enjoyable visit instead.

There is a noticeable increase in tourist activity now. Everyone wants a piece of the nice weather. The number of California license plates we see is staggering. The European influx seems to have wained only to be replaced with tour buses that would rival a city block in length. Local business entities are challenged to handle the load.

Last Wednesday, the storm system that had inundated Utah and Colorado, passed over Illinois. It was very, very strong rain. Unlike desert and forest areas, what it did was grid-lock Chicago as all the viaducts were flooded and traffic stood still for hours and hours.

However, since then we've had almost perfect weather. Few clouds and 70 degrees...wonderful Fall conditions.

Got some light snow today. Weather was windy, dank, rainy and chilly. It's 37F here now at 10p MST and windy. I'm thinking the mountains got a good dose of the white stuff but won't know for sure until tomorrow. Tomorrow night is expected to be colder than it will warm up.

We've been given the green light to pick the apples on the trees around here. They are called double delicious. And they are extremely tasty. If the apples aren't picked, the deer come down and eat them and break the branches off the trees in the process. Venison anyone?
