just bought a 2001 ttr 250 today. i am super stoked. got a steal of a deal. it needs a new stator but no prob with what i payed. cant wait to hit the mx park now. this is gonna be fun

i had to put the switches back out by the grips. po had mounted them in the center of the bar




this is the 2001. i will have the most fun with this 1 as i am restoring alot of it. mostly all the major goods are there just some here or there pieces. i will probably post some pix of the restoreation as i go. sry in some of the pix i had already taken pieces off to paint them

ive been looking for a ttr250 there the next best bike to a xt225

yeah i would have to totally agree. the dual over head cam make that bike sic. i will most likely be attemptimg the 325 big bore kit on the 2001 in the long run. i am currently working on them again as work and money have picked back up lol. i should hve some pix soon. im on the parts wait now lol

Looks like fun riding is in your not-too-distant future. I hope to be taking mine on a camping trip next week.

well I figured it was time for a little update here. I have almost finished the first bike completely. so ill give ya some pix a a short write up. thanks for looking and checking it out!hope your enjoy.

I have opted to restore the 2000 first as more of it was present lol.

here are a couple a pix the day I brought the bike home. it was a little rough but I thoughly enjoy restoring the bikes!






first thing I did was relocate the kill switch. previous owern had mounted in in thecenter for some reason.

as you can see it was in fairly rough condition but was running.
next step I took was taking a 4in grinder with a braide wire wheel and took the frame down to bare metal. then I primes and repainted.

also did the factory exaust,pegs,swingarm,kickstand, and motor bar(where sideplate would attach.

next was baby needed new shoes. so put on kenda k760 tackmaster II with thick tough tubes, and also installed new rim locks on both front and rear.also new front and rear spockets. went up 1 tooth on the front from factory. 14t sunstar/vortex 52t rear.i also took out all the rotar disk and painted all the bolts to match the frame.

next I did the plastics, including the hand guards, side, tank, and rear fender. I left the front fender, fork guards, and headlight cowl as it was just added a few decals to them. also repainted the airbox and battery box, chain guards front and rear(rear matches bike and rubber guard matches swingarm), brake line holders and rear brack caliper guard.

next I had to replace the old odometer with a newone(also added new grips and will also be replacing handle bars)






I have also cleaned both bracke caliper and replaced with new pads. I have a new chain for it and have mounted the tires on the bike. here are a couple more as it is now. still a few more things to go but almost there. hope you enjoyed this write up and thanks for checkin it out. Now, go out and get it dirty and scratched?? : ) I would be interested in hearing how the Kendas work on different surfaces.

thanks man glad you like. I have had a blast restoring her. yes she is running. I still have a few things to do to her. main thing as of now is I have to get a tap and dye to fix threads on the rear axle or find a new one. im really hoping to have her done before summer is over. I will definatley give a good report on the tires. I am running this tire on the front of my xt. I got 3k miles on it and maybe half way gone. works good and the pavement and good on the trails no complaints so far
