I'll be 80 in August, however the cost of insuring my bike won't change.

That's good, I couldn't believe what that old boy told me. We do get ripped in the UK. Give him his due, most would chuck it in with a bill like that to pay out of a pension.

Yes I'm still in Chandler. Own a house here and have 2 kids nearby. To late in life for me to consider moving. I'll be 60 in a couple of months, but physically I'm a lot older. Have a lot of medical issues and have had a lot of injuries in my life. The do come back to bite you when you get older. I'm giving up off road riding, I have no one to ride with, and I decided it is just too dangerous to go by myself. Even if I were not injured, I would still not be able to walk out if the bike broke down. I can barely walk a block.

I have 2 XT225s, a Vulcan 750, and a Sportster 1200 insured, costs less than $200 a year liability only. Would be close to $1000 for full coverage and the bikes are not worth full coverage. They are kept locked in the garage and in a shed at home.

I'm planning to build a supermoto out of the XTs. Gonna take the best parts from all of them, and get some 17" wheels and tires. I would like a lightweight street bike, the others are a bit heavy to handle well. And I can't ride an actual sport bike, due to bad shoulders, bad knees, neck and back problems. The upright position of the XT is perfect. Wish I could find a better seat.

For anyone familiar with the area, the road between Mesa and Payson and up to Strawberry is nothing but curves, and would be a lot of fun on the right bike.

The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

You've been 'through the mill' Jerry, busted up, folded, wrinkled and put up wet! Sorry about that. If you're ever up the hill in Heber/Overgaard give me a holler. We'll meet and have a coffee at June's Diner or Three Bears. Go slow and be safe!..

I go through Heber/Overgaard ever once in a while. I like to ride the circle, from Mesa to Payson, then east to Show Low, then south through the Salt River Canyon, to Globe/Miami, Superior, Florence Junction, Apache Junction, hop on the 60 and head back home. I suppose there is probably snow up there now. I have a Suzuki Samurai and love to drive through snow, but not to crazy about riding in it. One of my XTs used to be yours. I bought it from the guy out in east Mesa that you sold it to. It still only has 3000 miles on it. it is probably the one I'm going to build the supermoto out of. My '94 has over 20,000 mostly dirt miles on it.

If one day you're interested in selling the '01, let me know. I'd pick that bike back up in a heartbeat Jerry! It's a good one. Never should have sold it to begin with. Hindsight's 20-20 as they say!!..

Yeah, if you're up this way come warmer weather call me. I'll PM you my cell number. We've had three or four good snow storms so far this winter. Hopefully more snow on the way, or rain for that matter. Either is good. We need all the moisture we can get here in the high country..

Ride safely Jerry..

Hi Jerry,

I have a 2005 Suzuki Jimny and absolutely love it. Everyone really considers it to be the perfect 'Reggiemobile'. Me, well I treat her as my 4x4 Serow.

Have you seen the new version yet? It's fabulous and one of the UK car mags has voted it to be the 4x4 of the year, irrespective of the price!

Regards

I've got one of the new Jimnys on order Reggie, due for delivery next month. We must have similar tastes in vehicles.

Hi Colin,

they're brilliant little beasties. I'd love one in Kinetic Yellow.

You're obviously a man of taste!
