Owing to you and Geoff and others touting the advantages of the National Deflector Screen windshield on the XT250 I've got one on order from Amazon, the clear DX version - easy on, easy off. Used a Spitfire windshield on my XT225's and loved the way it made distance riding enjoyable. Looking forward to similar results with the National windscreen!

I've just fitted a National Cycle Deflector to my 250 just waiting to get rid of some of this salt off the roads and it will have a good test run.

Here ya go. Full frontal. And some pics of the fixings. My handlebar area is getting a bit busy! Screen will doubtless need some adjustment for optimum, plus I'm not too happy about the rods being at full length in the handlebar clamps, but otherwise they touch the tank on full lock. We'll see what needs doing. Temp is still about 0°C here but it's dry, I have visitors this afternoon but if it stays dry tomorrow I shall give the screen and heated grips a workout. Not to mention the thermal base layer, given that I'm a soft southern jessie! Cheers, all.

Hi Geoff,
I must admit, if it was me, and the angle works, then I'd be tempted to trim the frame around the headlamp fairing, to get a closer fit, before the trimming the ends off the rods.
Please let us know how you get on with riding.
Regards
Reggie

Hi Reggie,
Re your comment about the fit round the wee fairing...... everyone with a screen and fairing seems to complain about noise or buffet and I have some thoughts on the subject. People change from small screens to touring size and just change from one problem to another.
Where you have a screen which is fully mated to the fairing, I think you have high air pressure in front of the screen (when travelling at speed) and low pressure behind. Therefore you get a lot of turbulence round the top and sides that cause buffet and noise. Without a screen (on a naked bike) this area of turbulence and noise is behind the rider.
When I had the 700 Transalp there was a substantial gap at the bottom between screen and fairing so air flowed in there and up the inside of the screen. I reckon this created a smoother upward flow of air off the top of the screen which carried it over my head and made life quieter. Of course I'm a bit of a shortarse anyway! Therefore with the XT I'm initially looking to keep that gap and just experiment with rake angle and see what happens. Must remember to take a spanner!

Hi Geoff,
quite a few bikes have air flow holes low down in the screen, to try t overcome this problem but I was wondering if the cruising speed of a Serow would be high enough to allow this to manifest itself?
ST1100's DL100's spring to mind.
On my R1200GS I fitted 'Tobinators' which allow the screen angle at it's lower level to be changed and it really made a difference at 80mph.
