Hi everyone, I am UK owner of 2 of these bikes currently. At 66 yrs old and struggling a bit with the weight of todays adventure bikes i sold my 2018 Crf1000l during the lockdown and after quite a few months searching for a nice Serow i found a bike at an importers. i actually rang about another Serow but that had been sold already. A long story cut short i bought a limited edition bike that he had apparently tucked away for himself. Whilst waiting for the bike courier van to deliver this 1995 225W 4JG model i was still getting notifications of Serows for sale and bought another Serow as well The second bike is an earlier one from 1987 and is a 225S 1KH. This 87 bike is only showing a little over 5 thousand kilometres from new and looks it. 1987 https://photos.google.com/album/AF1...ipNs4eZ75EGCZD-vIsCkQGTXurIUpcac_jImbce51995 https://photos.google.com/album/AF1...ipO9FdfcncGDXz4ua1RobkXoQmJMZ237oPvXAPK1I think the 1995 bike is a 10th year Anniversary Limited edition Japan only model to celebrate 10 years of Serow production so has a few enhancements I also own a RE Himalayan to hopefully do longer trips on instead of torturing the Serow The lightweight Serow is going to be carried on my Motorhome rear rack when i need to cover a few days.away (i hate camping) Well that's me introduced and raring to go and search through this forum and then ask all the stupid questions? Ian

Welcome! I’m not having any luck viewing your photos, but I’ll bet they’re nice bikes. I hope you enjoy them, and the incredible wealth of information on this site. Someone on here has most likely “been there, done thatâ€. I’ve gotten a lot of useful information and I think you will as well.

Welcome. By CRF1000L do you mean the Africa Twin? I would have to have a tall step ladder to even get on one of those, and would not be able to touch the ground after I did. I am 62, and have severe arthritis, bad knee and hip joints, among several other things. I have to stand on something at least 6" high to even get on a Serow/XT225. I really like the Himalayan, and considered buying one. I have a 2013 Royal Enfield B5 Bullet, converted to an Amal carb using a kit from Hitchcocks. But I decided that at my age and in my condition I probably don't need to be buying any more bikes, especially tall ones.
I was unable to see your pictures because I don't have a google account.
The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. 1994/2001 custom built XT225 with a ton of aftermarket parts.

Welcome to the XT world. At 65 and traveling full time in an RV in the US I have traded up and down from our original XT's. Now I am in search of another XT.
