Thanks Alexd...I'll keep that in mind. I'm waiting on some throttle and carb parts before I can get it back together and running.
In the meantime I replaced the rear brake shoes, hopefully got it readjusted correctly, and hopefully remedied the Satan's Howl that came from the drum at the mere thought of using it.

132.5 might be way too big, unless you are planning on pumping pure O2 into the intake.

In all seriousness, I recommend going to a 130 if you are running at or near sea level, or a 127.5 if you are significantly higher than that. I ride between 3500 and 5000 feet mostly, and I found the 130 to be too rich (even with a big hole in my air box, a UNI filter, and the Z1 exhaust mod).

'06 XT225, 2" hole in airbox, Z1 mod, 127.5 main jet, UNI air filter, Corbin seat, PIAA 500Hz, custom aluminum rear rack.

I also believe 132.5 will be too large...unless PERHAPS you remove the snorkel and run E-15 gasoline.

I've been getting radically different advice on the main jet size. Most have recommended 132.5 or 135 for a bike with exhaust and airbox mods. I live around 3200 feet, with riding up as high as 6500-7500, but most riding will be between 3500-5500.

Stock it has a 130, and I've been battling a lean condition in the pilot circuit, which I'm combating with a 42.5 pilot jet. I'm tired of taking this carb on and off, and I still plan to mod the exhaust. Beings that I haven't yet perhaps I'll throw the 130 back in for now.

I'll be running 91 non-ethanol

My pardon...I thought your stock jet (like mine) was #125. If it was #130, then one "click" up (#132.5) is fine for various mods that lean things out slightly.

Check it out for yourself:

On a THOROUGHLY warmed up engine, on a straight road with zero cars and people, go into 4th gear at 20MPH and suddenly twist and hold the throttle fully open until it screams at full speed in 4th. If it burbles at high RPM, you're too rich on the main jet. If it stumbles and/or won't pull up to high RPM, you're either too lean or your needle needs to be shimmed (to make the midrange richer)...or both.

Alexd
P.S. 91 octane non-ethanol is fine

I put the 130 back in for now. Until I do the exhaust mod, then maybe I'll need a bigger main. For now all I've done is pulled the snorkel out.

when i first got my 02 xt it had been sitting for a long time . I went through much of what you are experiencing . my problem turned out to be a bad o-ring in the intake manifold .

The effect of removing the snorkel is, in my opinion, about equal to the leanness created by the Z1 mod. Other things working properly, there is a small power/response gain.
