Hi all, thanks for letting me join.
I inherited a 1992 xt225 from a freind who passed away and it only had 3,000 miles on it. I really like this bike and intend to modify it to better fit my rather large stature. (6’5” 260lbs.) I’ve been lurking in this forum for a while and am glad to finally join.
Welcome! Same year as mine, it really is a fantastic bike and I'm sure with a little suspension work, it'll handle ya just fine!

Welcome. 1992 was the first year the XT225 was sold in the U.S. I'm 6' 240, and I had to completely replace the suspension on my 1994/2001 model because my weight completely compressed the stock compressed the stock suspension, just from sitting on it. I spent over $1000 on suspension parts more than 10 years ago to get it sorted out. The owners manual says it can carry nearly 400 pounds, and while that may be true for the rest of the bike, it won't do that with the stock suspension. Other than that issue, the XT225 is probably the best small displacement dual sport bike made since the '70s/early '80s. Those older "dual purpose" bikes actually had seats you could sit on for quite a while, something more modern dual sports don't really have. The XT225 can be modified to handle your weight, I'm not sure how cramped it will be. I have a 34" inseam, and find the riding position to be quite good. My bars are about 2" higher than stock.
Thanks guys. I’ve been looking at the TTR225 shock swap with a Cannon Racecraft spring for the rear and for the front maybe cut a couple coils and add a spacer with some heavier weight fork oil. My area is littered with miles of single track through prime mule deer country so it seems fate was telling me something when I inherited this bike.

Sorry to hear of your friend. Sounds like this bike has lots of good juju inside of it, making it more special than it already is. May you have many safe rides!
