Have you guys went all in with LEDs? I see you can get a special flasher to take care of the rapid flashing. So are you guys all in with LED brake lights and front and rear signals? Thanks

Hi Garywi,
I use LED tail lights on my Brazilian XT225, and LED turn indicators on my Kawasaki AR125's but that's it, so far.
Both types have been easy to install and have worked perfectly.

I recall some old threads where people replaced all the lights (dash included) with LED's. I'm not inclined to put forth that much effort for something that otherwise works fine. If you're trying to free up some charging capacity to run other electrical stuff (heated gear, etc.) that's one thing, but replacing them just because? Nah. I would like to upgrade to an LED headlight, but haven't had spare cash for that in a while.

I'm am just trying to be seen more on the street. Every review I read about 1157 led tail light bulbs are, there is little difference between the running light and brake light for the bulb so it alway looks like you are stepping in the brake....

I went LED so I could power heated gear. LED headlight with on off switch, LED taillight with flashing brake light and front turn signal. In order to be seen, I'm in the process of instaling a Skene Photon Blaster LED running light with the flicker.

Thanks James. I have been looking for something like the Skene system for the back. On my Harley, I had something similar that was so dang bright, when I put on the brakes, cars stayed way back, like multiple car lengths.

In that case I'd get hi-viz gear, add some LED running lights and maybe add an auxiliary brake light with a flasher module.

Depends on the bulb. I have LED brake lights on my BMW. The main improvement is faster on. Incandescent bulbs take 0.2-0.3 seconds to reach full brightness; an LED brake light is nearly instantaneous. At 60 mph, the difference amounts to ~18 feet, which could be a matter of life and death if someone is tailgating you.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke, don't break it if you can't fix it.

At 60 mph, the difference amounts to ~18 feet, which could be a matter of life and death if someone is tailgating you. Very much so. Perhaps things have changed for the better, but when I tried LED replacement bulbs in the stock housing, the LED's were noticeably dimmer than the incandescent bulbs. They do reach full brightness faster, but the absolute brightness, and more importantly, the difference between tail and brake wasn't high enough to suit me. So I switched back. The housing/reflector design is very different between LED's and incandescent bulbs, so what works with one may not work with the other. On the other hand, replacing the whole light assembly with one made for LED's can be a big improvement, and sometimes they're not much more $$ than just the bulbs.
