Hello! I just got a 2008 xt250 with 1900 miles on it for 1800 bucks. I feel like it was a decent deal based on prices around the state.
Got it running with a battery and it wouldn't idle of choke. Took the carb out and replaced the pilot jet. Did the 3 turn "Mod" (really went to 2 and 1/2 turns.), took it outside after getting everything together and it started without choke on the first crank! It was about 23 degrees outside and did that!

That is an indication that your probably running too rich.
